I hate shooting outside in bright sun ..but I hate using a flash too... it does make everything more of a challenge though..... the shot of the mom and child is very nice ...... The photowalk is all about getting together and having fun! Also, fill flash makes the most sense when shooting up-close portraits of people out in the open when the sun is blasting. For sure you'll find many opportunities tomorrow in some shaded areas next to buildings where you're not dealing with the sun directly - and in those situations everything will work just fine.
