Vessel Traffic Service

I find it amusing that the Golden Gate Bridge can be used for perspective when explaining the size of a commercial shipping vessel, as seen above.
Here’s a fun fact: the Coast Guard’s Vessel Traffic Service helps facilitate safe traffic on the bay and averages ~250 vessel navigations each day.

excellent colors and composition troy. The contrast due to the colors between ship, bridge and water is great.

Where’d you take this photo from? I’m having a hard time visualizing an appropriate vantage point.

this was shot from about 3k feet in the air in a single engine plane

Troy, this is a solid photo, my friend. Definitely one of my favorites of yours. The lines are especially clean!

hey, thanks!
this was a wild shoot. i had my XTi w/ crop factor, a 1.4x extender, and a 400mm lens. which was all fine until i factored in the shake from sticking that long lens out the window of a moving airplane.
this shot was truly a numbers game. meaning that if you take 700 shots in 2 hours, a few will turn out sharp
