I hope Santa brought you something special this year.
It’s becoming my own quiet holiday tradition to walk through Golden Gate Park on Christmas morning. I took this photo last year, with my first beloved Canon PowerShot. This year I was weighted down with the new DSLR and several lenses, and although I took some photos I really like, none of them replace this one as my ultimate Christmas Morning Favorite.

Yup, it’s a great shot!
And I’ve been thinking about it since I say it yesterday… I spent a bit of time mulling over my own childhood that was filled with similar wonderful stuff — but this kid made out like a Bandit — or should I say, a Fire-Chief… Now he can protect his home and the neighborhood… And he will learn all about volunteering… Volunteering life and limb and the occasional third-degree burn… It’s such a sense of satisfaction… And all accomplished at such an early age…
But darn it, Julie, I sure wish you had more detail in your whites… I don’t know — maybe a bit of exposure-compensation or maybe a bit of fill flash, but hell — who’s got time for all of that when you’ve got a scene unfolding right in front of you — a scene you’re probably going to miss if you’ve got to hook up a fill-flash or fiddle with exposure-compensation… It’s a GREAT photo just the way it is… I got the message, and had a whole lot of fun thinking about it… Kudos…
Perfect! He is all decked out in his new Christmas gear and still sees the magic of the water.
Happy New Year Julie!
MJ
That’s adorable!
