Troy mentioned that we all posted geometric themed shots yesterday, without consulting each other. I suppose we all have our own plays on shooting shapes. I love geometry in photography.

“Cocktails (194 of 365)”
Pye42 is working his way through the famed 365 set. I like this shot because he used a creative filter, and I never have, and therefor I envy him for getting a cool result. Also, the shot is sharper than an obsidian scalpel.
As a reminder, on Flickr Friday we choose a shot that we like from the Calibersf Flickr Pool. Thanks for submitting!
The Structure of Interest
Someone told me the other day that I don’t take enough pictures of people. That’s true, and I think I have developed an answer for why. Taking a portrait of someone requires intimate encountering. Julie is fantastic at that. I shoot a lot of creations of people; the structures they leave behind, their waste, and the footprints of civilization. I think I can make a comparison to music…I like pop songs, but I hardly pay attention to the lyrics. I’m far more interested in the production of the tune, the beat, the b-line, the arrangement, the architecture of the composition that took place in the fairly anti-septic environment of a studio. If I care about the vocal, my comments usually fall along the lines of “clever use of autotune” or “I really like stacked harmonies“. These are technical attributions at best. I do feel like I am shooting things that are very closely attributed to humans. I would venture to guess that I am quite interested in Joseph Strauss’s lyrics.
