The owners of Nashville-based Burger & Company are planning to open a Five Points store in East Nashville on July 1.
Wife and husband Kristi Leigh and Bruce Leigh, who founded the company in early 2020, will operate at 1106 Woodland Street The Leighs also operate a Burger & Company in Old Hickory (which began operations last May) and Spirit Lake, Iowa (which opened in March 2020). The Leighs own residential property in East Nashville and Iowa.
Burger & Company promotes itself as offering burgers made from scratch. The restaurant menu also includes a spicy chicken thigh sandwich, a turkey burger, a shrimp PoBoy, grilled cheese with a tomato bisque shooter, and a Cuban panini, among others.
“We take great pride in developing original and fresh burgers and sandwiches,” said Kristi Leigh. “We make everything fresh, from our BC sauce to our big, homemade cookies. It is so important to develop layers of flavor that complement each burger or sandwich. “
Burger & Company has approximately 23 part-time and full-time employees who work collectively at the two locations. The Leighs are not disclosing the cost of becoming operational at Five Points and the terms of their lease with East Nashville-based entrepreneur and real estate investor Christian Paro. The building was the last home to Art & Invention Gallery (read here).
Kristi Leigh, chartered accountant and interior designer, is responsible for the design of the future space. She also owns and operates Johnathan Blake Interiors in Okoboji, Iowa.
“We live a few blocks from our location in East Nashville,” said Leigh. “We love the vibe and the scene and knew it was a perfect fit for our business. We call this place our home and wanted to be a part of East Nashville.
