A plant-based burger described as a “breakthrough” has appeared in Costco stores across the United States.
The patties – called “Organic Plant-Based Raw Burgers” were created by Don Lee Farms – a California-based family food company.
According to the producers“The burger ‘bleeds’ organic beet juice and sizzles on the grill from organic vegetable fats just like beef.
“The revolutionary raw burger, made with beans and seeds, is certified organic, vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free. The burger is free of artificial ingredients or preservatives.
‘Excited’
Donald Goodman, President of Don Lee Farms, said, “We have been a plant-based protein supplier for many years and, as the nation’s leading organic veggie burger manufacturer, we are thrilled to introduce another plant-based burger.
“Our customers are looking for an alternative to the raw beef burger and we have responded with a healthier approach: making a burger with organic plants.
“We challenge everyone to look at the ingredients found in other raw, plant-based burgers currently being sold, you’d be surprised.”
Plants
Speaking of the burger, which is made from seeds, beans and beet juice, Danny Goodman, Product Development Don Lee Farms, added, “This is a burger made with plants, not science.
“As people choose to consume less meat, they expect a burger alternative to be made with simple, healthy and recognizable ingredients.
“This is the burger for them. This product is another example of what our team is developing by focusing on the purpose of each ingredient.
“Because we’ve made this burger from organic and responsible sources, it really is the only sustainable substitute for a raw beef burger.”
